Spring Styling Ideas – By Nick Arrojo

I always think of spring as the natural time of renewal; a chance to try something different and new. This doesn’t mean you have to get a new color and cut; hairstyling can be made fresh, trendy, and fun with some creative styling ideas, and the right approach to product application. So for anyone that wants to change it up, without dashing to the salon for color and cut, here’s some tips for spring 2010….

Texture
As seen in the ARROJO SQ-round collection, playful multi-texture is one of the hottest looks of the season. If your hair is mid-length to long, here's how to create loose wavy texture: Apply ARROJO styling crème from roots to ends to aid the set and style. Place a few big hot rollers around the crown and side-lengths and bangs––that’s where waves and fullness look the most rock and roll––and mist the rolls with ARROJO holding spray. Release rollers and tussle with fingers for cascading, freeform texture.

Short with Shape
Here's how to create comparable waves and curls, fullness and movement when the hair is short to chin length: Apply ARROJO thermal protector from roots to ends, adding just a touch of ARROJO curl crème. Now use a small barrel curling iron to create playful, undulating texture and volume. Focus your curling iron action around the crown, as the shape you make here is where this looks succeeds or fails, especially when the style is short.

Buns of Style
The ponytail is always in and taking the pony to the next level is the bun; it leaves no hair falling forward and no hair on the shoulders, for style and class. On damp hair, work ARROJO hair gel from roots to ends. Now brush your hair into the shape of a pony, positioning it where you want your bun to be. If it helps, use a ponytail holder to hold in place. Now simply twist into a bun. Think of it like as circle and, to hold the shape and structure, put bobby pins in at every 45 degrees. Spritz with ARROJO holding spray for extra control.

Natural Curls
At ARROJO studio we love curly hair, and we encourage curly haired clients to wear it natural. But one of the biggest challenges is knowing how to successfully style textured tresses. Here’s how to be naturally trendy: Cocktail ARROJO hair crème with ARROJO curl crème and apply to damp hair. Now sit back, relax, and take hold of each curl, one at a time. With each one, grasp it between your thumb and index finger and wind it around, from tip to root. This is a great way to perk up curls, giving renewed life, vibrancy, and shine, with beautiful natural texture.

When looking at the wider fashion world, the current direction is luxurious, bohemian style: ethereal, romantic, young and carefree, part peasant, part rock-chic, part sex-goddess. This all points to hair that’s never overdone, never perfect. So whatever your hair type, color or cut, aim to create disheveled variation in texture, and loose, elegant tailoring.

And whatever your look, finish with a glamour shot from ARROJO shine spray – and glitz and bedazzle will never be far away.
